Spey-O-Rama 2023

Earlier Spey-O-Ramas

The 2023 Spey-O-Rama, hosted by the Golden Gate Angling and Casting Club, was held on April 22-23 at the casting ponds in San Francicso's Golden Gate Park under partly sunny condititons with light but swirling winds.

In the womens division, Norway's Anita Strand set a new all-time Spey-O-Rama world record with a four-cast total of 560 feet, edging out Whitney Gould's prior record of 559 feet in 2017.

In the senior mens division, England's Stephen Pugh set an all time Spey-O-Rama world record with a four-cast total of 700 feet. This eclipsed the previous world record of 619 feet set by Ireland's Martin Kiely in 2016. Stephen's longest cast of 192 feet was also a new world record, beating Martin Kiely's 2016-world-record of 168 feet.

In the mens division, Travis Johnson from Maupin Oregon, returning after a five-year absence, claimed his fourth overall mens title with a four-cast total of 712 feet. Norway's Tommy Arkvisla won the longest cast at 195 feet and finished second in the four-cast total with 708 feet.
